202 stainless steel pipe is a low carbon austenitic alloy containing 18% chromium, 8.5% nickel and up to 0.07% carbon. The low carbon content reduces the chance of carbide precipitation, making it more resistant to corrosion. Due to its austenitic structure, 202 stainless steel pipe has better formability, machinability and weldability than ferritic stainless steel. Because of its corrosion resistance and processing capabilities, 202 stainless steel tubing is commonly used in evaporators, heat exchangers, piping, piping for handling mildly corrosive chemicals and process fluids, storage tanks, mixers, and valves.
200 series stainless steel is another name for chromium-manganese austenitic stainless steel; this type of material is developed on the basis of chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel, adding manganese and (or) nitrogen to the steel instead of the precious metal nickel . The austenitic elements in this material include nitrogen in addition to manganese, and generally a moderate amount of nickel (4%~6%). Manganese in steel plays a role in stabilizing austenite.
